Shell Scripting
From Bash to Batch, Ash to Zsh; all shell languages are welcome here!
Rules:
- Follow Lemmy rules!
- Posts must relate to shell scripting. (See bottom of sidebar for more information.)
- Only make helpful replies to questions. This is not the place for low effort joke answers.
- No discussion about piracy or hacking.
- If you find a solution to your problem by other means, please take your time to write down the steps you used to solve your problem in the original post. You can potentially help others having the same problem!
- These rules will change as the community grows.
I want to make a clear delineation on what is and is not allowed. From my experience on Reddit, communities in this niche were far too numerous and fractured. This community casts a fairly wide net, but intends to stay focused on the joy and pain of writing scripts.
- Allowed: Release Announcement of a command-line program designed for scripted use (e.g. bash, bats, awk, jq, coreutils/moreutils)
- Allowed: Tutorials on using shell languages or supplementary tools designed for scripted use
- Allowed: Code review/help requests for shell languages or supplementary tools designed for scripted use
- NOT Allowed: Announcement of a CLI or TUI program that is not designed for scripted use (Yes, your fancy Zsh plugin which pretty-prints the date and time using only builtins is very cool, but unless you actually want to discuss the code itself, find somewhere else to post it.)
- NOT Allowed: Domain-specific tutorials that do not involve shell scripting as a core component (e.g. docker-compose,
- NOT Allowed: Code review requests for non-shell programming languages and configuration languages (e.g. Python, Yaml)
In general, if your submission text is primarily shell code, then it is welcome here!

Friend Ship
Welcome on board!
This is a place where you can build a kind of ship together. Friendships take time to make, so it is only natural to be patient with your fellow sailor, if you want the ship to work. Love and passion are your raw materials and you are the builder. Make the ship look and feel the way you prefer, you are totally free. Also, since you are the builder, you two are the only ones to tell, what a ship is. If you want it to slide in the snow instead of sailing on water, make it like that. You may want to try out having no expectations, maybe during the building process it will help you experience things, you had no idea you will.
Post what kind of ship you are planning to build and wait until somebody is willing to make it with you. If you know anyone around you, who might be interested in making a friendship, offer them builders or simply this site in general. Once you are done, you can choose to be friends on a friendship, or try to build another one with someone else. In any case, in my observation, it helps if you let each other know what you are looking for, so both of you will know what exactly you are creating.
Step lively now!
This is a community in which you can let others know, that you are looking for friends or in which you can message a potential friend based on what they said about themselves. You can use the Lemmy DM's or provide additional information about where people could message you. Tip: Matrix username can be set in profile settings.
A sister Matrix group has been created for people looking for an approach that is different to establishing friendships. Those looking for a group/chat experience may prefer to find friends using that method. It was created by @marmulak@lemmy.ml, therefore maintained separately. Reach the mentioned group here: #friendship:matrix.org

Silly Little Book Club
Welcome to our Silly Little Book Club!
There are many Book Clubs like it, but this one is Silly, Little, and ours!
The point of this little corner is to promote, discuss and bond over our shared love of written media!
This includes:
- Manga
- Light Novels
- Comics
- Manhua
- Any other kind of book unlisted!
There are only a few rules, which while they should be self-evident, must of necessity be mentioned:
- If somehow there is any conflict between any of these rules and that of Blahaj Zone, Blahaj Zone overrides the below.
- Anti-LGBTQ+ Media of any kind is strictly prohibited. This is meant to be a light place, not for dealing with terrible people writing terrible things. There are other Book Clubs and forums for those discussions, and this is not one of them.
- Whether Physical or Digital, reading is reading. Do not degrade someone for their preferences. If they want to discuss it with you, no harm, but the second there are attacks, conversation will be over. Period.
- Posts are expected to focus chiefly on the written. A mention that something has an animated adaptation or a discussion-prompting side-tangent about such is fine, but chiefly, discussion about adaptations, how it differs, etc. should take place in the comments, not the main post.
We hope you enjoy your stay!

traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns
Rules
1.) No bigotry of any kind, and don't be a jerk either
• Bigotry includes but is not limited to: ableism, casteism, homophobia, lookism, queerphobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, and xenophobia. Bigotry towards non-binary people is transphobia. Truscum rhetoric is also bigotry. You getting punished for your hateful opinion, however, is not bigotry.
2.) No Spam
• This includes both advertising and breaking your or my Lemmy instance's rules, such as vote manipulation or brigading.
3.) Posts must have something to do with being trans, or about trans experiences
• Try to stay away from negative political events too. You can joke about it, but bringing attention to something bad happening in the world might take someone out of their comfort zone— this is an escape from the constant news cycle for some.
4.) No Selfies or Character Creations
• Selfies are not memes! This is not a community for selfies. Picrews and other character creations such as Sims and Mii's are considered bandwagoning, and perhaps can be a part of a different community.
5.) SFW-only
• This is an all ages community, so we prefer it if you take the NSFW stuff to one of the more adult oriented communities. Note: nudity is not allowed, we want everybody to be comfortable here.
6.) Submissions must be a meme or they will be removed
7.) Swearing is fine, but slurs are not
• We want everybody to feel safe and comfortable here, so even if you want to reclaim a pejorative word that applies to you— we ask that you don't, as this is a light-hearted community and others stumbling across your post might feel unsafe.
8.) Embedded submissions should only link to trusted image sharing sites, no IP grabbers or link shorteners
9.) Use but don't misuse the report button
• If something breaks these rules, or this Lemmy instance's rules, please report it.
10.) **Pleas

Lemmy reports more active users than there really are, so “active this month” on Lemmy forums is an upper estimate. More
