Libre Software
"Libre software" means software that respects users' freedom and community. Roughly, it means that the users have the freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software.
In particular, four freedoms define Free Software:
The freedom to run the program, for any purpose. Placing restrictions on the use of Free Software, such as time ("30 days trial period", "license expires January 1st, 2004") purpose ("permission granted for research and non-commercial use", "may not be used for benchmarking") or geographic area ("must not be used in country X") makes a program non-free. The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to your needs. Placing legal or practical restrictions on the comprehension or modification of a program, such as mandatory purchase of special licenses, signing of a Non-Disclosure-Agreement (NDA) or - for programming languages that have multiple forms or representation - making the preferred human way of comprehending and editing a program ("source code") inaccessible also makes it proprietary (non-free). Without the freedom to modify a program, people will remain at the mercy of a single vendor. The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor. Software can be copied/distributed at virtually no cost. If you are not allowed to give a program to a person in need, that makes a program non-free. This can be done for a charge, if you so choose. The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements to the public, so that the whole community benefits. Not everyone is an equally good programmer in all fields. Some people don't know how to program at all. This freedom allows those who do not have the time or skills to solve a problem to indirectly access the freedom to modify. This can be done for a charge.- Subscribers

ADHD Talk
Welcome to ADHD Talk!
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
This community is designed to provide a platform for individuals with ADHD to engage in informative and supportive conversations. While we appreciate the value of humor, our focus is on fostering meaningful discussions and sharing valuable information.
Rules & Guidelines:
1. Be Respectful: Treat fellow community members with kindness and respect. We encourage open-mindedness and understanding while engaging in discussions.
2. Serious Discussions: This is not the place for memes and low-quality jokes. This community is intended for serious discussions related to ADHD. While occasional light-heartedness is welcome, we prioritize substantive conversations over memes and similar content. For a more lighthearted experience, we recommend visiting !ADHD.
3. Seeking Professional Help: While we do not exclude individuals who have self-diagnosed, we strongly encourage seeking professional help and obtaining an official diagnosis. Professional guidance can provide valuable insights, support, and appropriate treatment options.
4. Politics-Free Zone: This community is inclusive and politically neutral. We aim to maintain a space that transcends political differences and focuses solely on ADHD-related topics. Political discussions are tolerated but not encouraged, and preaching radical political views has no place here.
5. ADHD as a Genuine Disorder: Denying that ADHD is a disorder is prohibited. ADHD is not a funny quirk or a mere personality trait; it is a genuine neurodevelopmental disorder. While some people with ADHD may be high-functioning and not experience certain challenges, it must be acknowledged that ADHD can significantly impact the lives of many individuals and has a profound negative effect on their quality of life. We encourage empathy and understanding for those who face these challe

Low Quality Facts
A community dedicated to the lowest quality facts.
While the community is named after the mastodon account Low Quality Facts it is not required to post related to that account. As long as the post is low enough quality, it belongs in this community.
A low quality fact could be a few things:
- Something blatantly untrue but stated as a fact
- Something true but stated in a way that makes it sound made up
- Something so blatantly obvious it doesnt need to be said at all.
Examples:
"Louis Armstrong stored jelly beans in his trumpet, which he would discreetly eat during his performances."
"If you took a persons digestive system and stretched it out end to end, it would hurt a lot."
"Whales are notoriously bad trumpet players."
Posts can be in whatever form best displays the low quality fact.
RULES
1: Be civil. No racism or any of that non-sense 2: Only low quality facts!- Subscribers

Lemmy reports more active users than there really are, so “active this month” on Lemmy forums is an upper estimate. More
