Communism101
An international (English speaking) Lemmy community for learning and understanding marxist principles, theory, philosophy, and ideology in general. This is a place where people willing to learn meet knowledgeable Marxists.
For discussions between communists please visit c/Communism.
Memes go in c/Commie Memes
Please don't forget to help keep this community clean by reporting rule violations, upvoting good contributions and downvoting those of low-quality!
Rules
1. For everyone:
1.0 Mutual respect and good faith discussion is enforced here
1.1 There are three allowed types of posts:
- Questions about marxism and communism in general, including all tendencies/currents/factions within these traditions, or specifically aimed at one or several currents
- Meta Posts about this community. Anyone may start a meta post, meta posts about other communities will be deleted. Short questions (for example those about moderation policy) are better send directly to the mods
- AMAs ("Ask Me Anything") or AMAXs ("Ask Me About X") with an expert or group of experts. These should be arranged with and are coordinated by the mods, so please send a message if you are interested in holding one. Announcements must wait for clearance first so they can be pinned.
Posts not falling within those categories will be actively deleted.
1.3 No Bigotry
The only dangerous minority is the rich.
1.4 No sectarianism / No infighting
Answers should not promote sectarian behaviours. Behaviour on the level of pointing out differences between various currents, however, is OK. Questions should not be aimed against other communists. This is also not a place for the Idealism vs. Materialism or rather Marxism vs. Anarchism debate(s), for that please visit c/AnarchismVsMarxism
1.5 Absolutely no questions or answers meant to relativ

52 Weeks of Cooking
Cook Something New
Each week, we give you an ingredient, technique, cuisine, or inspiration. Each week, you cook a dish in that theme and share the results. Each week, your culinary repertoire gets a little bigger.
Rules:
- If you can justify your interpretation of a theme, your dish fits the theme.
- Don't be rude. Sometimes a dish comes out less than we expected, or you may not agree with someone's interpretation. Keep negativity to yourself.
- Posts must list the Week and Theme as well as the name of the dish
- Photo posts required

UsabilityPorn - Form *and* Function
Share how you use your *nix operating system and don't forget to include screenshots/pictures!
Note that despite the name, this is not an NSFW page, neither is UnixPorn.
r/UnixPorn has inspired a lot of creativity in the *nix community. However, there is one problem. A lot of the setups are too "riced-out" and unappealing for long-term desktop use.
This page is an attempt to form a community around the love of practical, cosy, and solid desktop experiences.
Rules
- Screenshots of desktops must have at least one window open. You may include a screenshot of your blank desktop if necessary as an additional image in the album.
- Image links should either be from Imgur or reddit's built-in image service. Please don't use the Imgur album link unless you are posting an album.
- Follow the reddiquette
- Right now only *nix (Linux, BSD (That includes Mac OS)) operating systems are allowed. This is open for discussion though.
- Moderators can be wrong. Don't hesitate to message the mods if your post has been wrongfully deleted.
- Prefix your post properly
- No desktop/distro elitism
Following the r/UnixPorn tradition, please prefix your post title with square brackets and the name of your desktop environment or window manager inside.
Example:
[Cinnamon] Linux Mint has been a bliss so far!
Content Ideas
- Screenshots of a unique workflow for a specific task
- ex. A desktop optimized for pen testing that has easy access to all of your tools.
- ex. A desktop that you use graphic design with an easy-to-access color picker widget and Krita opened
- Screenshots with beautiful software that ties in nice with your desktop
- Regular screenshots of your every-day setup!
- A short screencast of how you implement a given environment (DE, tilling windows manager, terminal multiplexer or even just your text editor) This idea came from [u/piotr_wonsz](https://www.reddit.c

Lemmy reports more active users than there really are, so “active this month” on Lemmy forums is an upper estimate. More
