Deep Dive
Welcome to Deep Dive
This is a community dedicated to in-depth essays, infodumps, and extensive explorations of topics for general audiences. Whether you're passionate about science, history, technology, or culture, this is the place to share and discover detailed analyses and discussions.
What Goes Here?
We welcome all sorts of on-theme posts of all sorts. This is a place for medium- or high-effort posts, and the main goal is to foster a community that encourages engagement, appreciation, and thought. The following types of posts are encouraged:
- Original Essays are the most preferred content here. This could be an original essay about literature in the 1800s, a list of facts about your favorite kind of shark, or anything else that (loosely-interpreted) constitutes an original essay.
- Curated Bookmarks can be a lot of fun. This is a good community to share a list of bookmarks or citations that let people do their own deep dive. This could be anything from "My top 100 resources for learning about sourdough bread" to "My collection of academic papers about climate change in rural Asia".
- Links and Citations for deep dives that are published elsewhere can be interesting. This is especially useful for video or interactive deep dives that (due to upload size restrictions) aren't directly compatible with this community's interface or (due to copyright restrictions) can't be posted in full on this community.
- Ask Me Anything, particularly if you are an expert on a topic and would prefer to let the community guide your discussion. For example, "I have a PhD in medieval food, ask me anything!"
- Requests can be an interesting way to crowdsource high-quality resources. Think "Where should I start if I want to learn about moss?" or "Seeking essays about Wes Anderson's film style".
Rules
- Adhere to the Instance Rules. They can speak for themselves.
- Post quality content. This is not the

Meanwhile on Beehaw
Welcome to Meanwhile on Beehaw, a community dedicated to sharing criticism of or discussing shortcomings with the Beehaw.org lemmy instance without fear of retaliation from stans or current Beehaw members.
Rules
::: spoiler 1. No Queerphobia or bigotry Absolutely no queerphobia of any kind is permitted in this community. This includes homophobia, transphobia, enbyphobia, ableism, and racism. Any infractions of it here or in user history will result in a permanent ban when caught. There is zero tolerance for this. :::

::: spoiler 3. No Beehaw Apologia This is a community for people to express criticism towards Beehaw, and especially their less favorable practices. This is not a place to defend them or their practices and users who choose to defend them will be banned from here permanently.
If you dislike this feel free to post on the ǃyptb@lemmy.dbzer0.com community for some validation. Bans for this won't be overturned though. You may appeal this infraction once if you can prove yourself a victim of Beehaw's practices or users, after that any further infractions are not appealable. :::
::: spoiler 4. Stay on-topic This community is ONLY about criticism towards the Beehaw.org Lemmy instance, it is not for discussion of any other instances. For discussions related to tankie instances check out !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works. Discussion of Blahaj.zone here is forbidden as these discussions almost always exclusively break rule 1. :::

Lemmy reports more active users than there really are, so “active this month” on Lemmy forums is an upper estimate. More
